Terms of Service

Last updated: 16 October 2026

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Service apply to your use of OurChest, including getourchest.com, our apps, and related services. OurChest lets you store photos, videos, and other supported files in private shared spaces called Chests. OurChest is a trading name of SUBSTRONAUT LTD, whose business address is 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. In these Terms, “we”, “us”, and “our” mean SUBSTRONAUT LTD. For questions, support, or legal notices, contact Tom at ourchestapp@gmail.com.

By creating an account or using OurChest, including as an invited guest, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use OurChest for an organisation, you must have authority to accept these Terms on its behalf. Nothing in these Terms removes any consumer rights you have under applicable law.

2. Eligibility and account security

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into an agreement to use OurChest. OurChest does not offer child accounts. Adults may share family photos that include children, provided they have the rights and permissions needed to do so.

Provide accurate account details, keep access to your sign-in email or identity provider secure, and protect your devices and sessions. Do not impersonate another person or use an account without permission. Tell us promptly if you believe your account or a shared link has been compromised. You are responsible for activity you authorise and for taking reasonable care of your account; this does not make you responsible for a security failure caused by us.

3. Chests, invitations, and guest access

A Chest is not publicly searchable, but people with an invitation may be able to request or obtain access according to its settings. Share invitations only with people you intend to invite. Event invitations may be reusable, and someone you invite may forward a link. Owners should review access settings and membership regularly.

Chest owners manage invitations, approval settings, and membership. Members and guests can use the features allowed by their current role. An owner can refuse or revoke access, and leaving or being removed from a Chest may end your ability to view or download its files. We do not guarantee continuing access to a Chest owned by someone else.

Guest access may depend on the browser or device session you use. Clearing that session, signing out, or losing the device may cause you to lose access unless you have linked it to a registered account using the available controls. Do not rely on a guest session as your only way to keep important files.

4. Your content and permissions

You keep ownership of the photos, videos, files, and other material you upload. You must own the content or have permission to store it and share it with the people who can access the Chest. Respect copyright, privacy, confidentiality, and the rights of people shown in your uploads. Uploading content does not give you rights you did not already have.

You give OurChest a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to host, store, reproduce, transmit, and display your content, create technical previews, and save it to connected storage you select, solely to provide, secure, and maintain the service you request. We may use service providers for those purposes. This permission does not let us sell your content or use private uploads in advertising.

This permission lasts while needed to provide the service and complete the deletion, recovery, backup, or legally required retention described in our Privacy Policy. It does not give OurChest ownership of your content. Other Chest members may download or save independent files; removing access or deleting an upload cannot recall files they already hold.

5. Acceptable use

Do not upload, share, or use OurChest for illegal material, child sexual abuse or exploitation, non-consensual intimate imagery, threats, harassment, fraud, or content that infringes another person’s rights. Do not upload material you are legally prohibited from possessing or sharing.

Do not distribute malware, attempt unauthorised access, evade access controls or storage limits, abuse invitations, send spam, scrape private content, disrupt the service, or use it to operate an unrelated file-distribution or resale service without our agreement. Security research must respect other users’ privacy and applicable law; report a vulnerability privately to ourchestapp@gmail.com.

We may restrict uploads, remove content, revoke access, or suspend an account where reasonably necessary to address a breach, a credible rights complaint, a security risk, or a legal obligation. Where appropriate and lawful, we will explain the action and allow you to respond. We may act immediately when necessary to protect people, content, or the service.

6. Storage, originals, and availability

Your available storage, supported file types, upload limits, and features are those shown in the service or the offer you accept. Limits may apply to an account or a particular Chest. When a Chest or account reaches its allowance, new uploads may pause while existing content remains viewable, subject to event expiry, deletion, account restrictions, and other applicable limits.

OurChest is designed to preserve uploaded originals and may create separate previews or viewing versions. A preview is not a replacement for an original. Files, previews, uploads, or downloads can fail because of an unsupported format, connection problems, corruption, or service faults. Check that important uploads and saves have completed, and keep another copy of irreplaceable files.

Original files may retain camera metadata, including location information. Consider that before sharing. We use private storage, including Cloudflare R2, and access controls, but OurChest is not end-to-end encrypted. Our Privacy Policy explains our handling of personal information and service-provider access.

7. Connected storage and other services

Where available, you can connect your own Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive account and choose which Chests should also be saved there. These connections are optional and require your authorisation. You are responsible for the connected account, its available space, and compliance with that provider’s terms.

A connection does not guarantee that every file has been saved successfully. Provider outages, permission changes, storage limits, and unsupported files may delay or prevent a save. Check the status shown in OurChest. Disconnecting or revoking access stops future access through that connection, but does not remove files already saved there.

Connected storage is one-way delivery rather than bidirectional sync. Deleting or renaming a file in the connected service does not change the Chest. Deleting a file in OurChest does not delete a file already saved to a connected service or downloaded by another member. Google sign-in and connecting Google Drive are separate choices.

8. Plans, payments, and cancellation

If a paid plan or event product is offered, its price, currency, storage allowance, duration, and any renewal terms will be shown before you buy. A plan name or a feature mentioned in these Terms does not mean it is currently available for purchase. We may offer different features on different platforms.

A recurring subscription renews on the terms shown at purchase unless you cancel it through the payment channel used to buy it. Purchases made through Apple or Google are managed through the relevant store; direct purchases use the billing controls made available for that purchase. Uninstalling the app or requesting account deletion does not by itself cancel a store subscription. Cancel that subscription separately to stop future renewal charges.

Unless the purchase terms, a refund, or applicable law provide otherwise, cancelling renewal leaves paid access in place until the end of the paid period. Refund requests follow the rules of the payment channel and applicable consumer law. Contact us if you need help identifying the correct channel. Nothing in these Terms makes a payment non-refundable where the law requires a refund.

If a plan expires, is refunded, or is downgraded, the applicable allowance may fall and new uploads may pause. A reduced allowance does not by itself immediately delete existing files. We will explain any further retention or export steps before removing content solely because of a plan change. Changes to recurring prices will be notified and handled in accordance with the purchase channel’s rules and applicable law.

9. Event Chests

Where offered, an Event Chest has its own storage allowance and event end date. Under the standard event arrangement, uploads close at the event end date and viewing access ends 90 days later. Any different arrangement must be clearly disclosed in the event offer before purchase or activation.

Save or export files you want to keep before viewing access ends. After expiry, files may be held briefly for recovery and then permanently removed. Recovery is not a promise of continuing member access. Any option to extend, convert, or export an event depends on the features and conditions available at that time; contact us promptly if you need help.

10. Deleting content and closing your account

Use the available controls to remove content you uploaded or content you manage as a Chest owner. Deletion may first remove an item from the visible Chest and place it in temporary recovery before permanent deletion. Recovery options are limited and may end; after permanent deletion, we may be unable to restore the file. Our Privacy Policy explains retention and personal-information deletion.

You can stop using OurChest at any time. Use account-deletion controls where available, or contact ourchestapp@gmail.com to request closure. You may need to resolve Chests, files, or ownership responsibilities associated with the account before closure can be completed. We will explain the steps and any lawful retention requirements. Closing an account does not erase independent files held by other people or connected storage providers.

If we permanently discontinue a paid service or close an account for reasons unrelated to a breach, we will give reasonable notice and an opportunity to save accessible content where practicable, and provide any refund or other remedy required by law. We may limit notice or export where doing so is required by law or necessary to prevent harm.

11. Privacy and reporting concerns

Our Privacy Policy describes the personal information we collect, how we use and share it, Google API data handling, retention, and your privacy choices. These Terms do not replace that policy or act as consent for optional processing that requires a separate choice.

Send privacy requests, abusive-content reports, and copyright or other rights complaints to ourchestapp@gmail.com. Describe the concern, identify the affected Chest or item as specifically as you can, explain your relationship to it or the right involved, and provide a way to contact you. Do not send passwords, sign-in codes, or unnecessary copies of sensitive images. We may request information needed to verify and investigate a report.

12. Our software and service

OurChest and its licensors retain rights in the app, software, branding, and service design. Subject to these Terms and applicable store rules, you may use the app and service for their intended purposes. You may not sell, sublicense, or copy our software or branding without permission, except where applicable law or an open-source licence permits it. Your own uploaded content remains yours.

If you download OurChest through an app store, that store’s applicable usage and licence terms also apply. Apple and Google do not become parties to these OurChest service Terms merely because they distribute the app. Open-source components remain subject to their respective licences.

13. Service changes and responsibility

We will use reasonable care and skill in providing OurChest. Maintenance, outages, and changes to third-party services may temporarily affect availability or particular features. We do not promise uninterrupted access, support for every file or device, or that every error can be prevented. We will take reasonable steps to address faults within our control.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for losses caused by another member’s independent use of a file, a storage provider you choose, or your failure to keep access credentials secure, except to the extent our own breach or lack of reasonable care contributed to the loss. For consumer use, we do not accept liability for business losses or losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the agreement was made.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability or consumer remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Your legal rights in relation to faulty services or digital content remain unaffected.

14. Disputes and applicable rights

If a problem arises, contact Tom at ourchestapp@gmail.com so we can try to resolve it. This informal process does not prevent you from using a court, regulator, or other dispute-resolution route available under applicable law, and does not pause a legal deadline unless agreed or required by law.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of mandatory protections under the law of the country where you live. The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts there; consumers elsewhere retain any right to use their local courts under applicable law. These Terms do not require binding arbitration or waive rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the service, legal requirements, security needs, or our operating arrangements. We will show the updated date and give reasonable advance notice of material changes through the service or your account email where practicable. Urgent security or legal changes may take effect sooner.

Changes will not retrospectively remove rights or alter the price or essential terms of an existing paid period except as permitted by law and the purchase terms. If a material change requires your agreement, we will obtain it. If you do not agree to future changes, you can stop using the service and cancel future renewal, with any applicable refund and consumer rights preserved.

16. Contact

For questions about these Terms, account support, privacy, or reports of misuse, contact Tom at ourchestapp@gmail.com. You can also write to SUBSTRONAUT LTD, trading as OurChest, at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.

If part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. A delay in enforcing a provision does not waive it. Any transfer of our service obligations must preserve your rights under these Terms and applicable law.
